MLB.com to Announce 2008 MiLB Yearly Awards

This week MLB is unveiling their 2008 Minor League Baseball Yearly Awards; which they claim are the “best of the best” performances from the 2008 season

Starting today and running through Friday MLB will announce a winner in each of the following categories:

Monday: Best Team
Tuesday: Best Single Game Performance
Wednesday: Best Reliever
Thursday: Best Starter
Friday: Best Hitter

Each level (Short Season, Low-A, High-A, AA, AAA) will have a winner and then there will be a overall winner announced too.

Today’s winners for Best Team are:

OVERALL: Augusta GreenJackets (Giants)
Triple-A: Sacramento RiverCats (Athletics)
Double-A: Trenton Thunder (Yankees)
Class A Advanced: Potomac Nationals (Nationals)
Class A: Augusta GreenJackets (Giants)
Class A Short-Season: Spokane Indians (Rangers)

The Washington Nationals were represented by the High-A Potomac Nationals.
The Double-A Eastern League, Trenton Thunder were picked as the best Double-A Team for 2008.
