2008 Relief Pitcher of the Year

As with all of the awards it was difficult to name a winner due to the frequent player moves. To put this into perspective the Senators had 32 players take the mound for them this season (13 pitchers were exclusively relievers, did not start a game). For this award I will include any pitcher that served as a reliever a majority of their appearances.

I was able to narrow it down to Yunior Novoa, Tim Bittner and Steve Schmoll. All 3 were decent in relief roles and all of them ended the season with Harrisburg. Novoa can still be labeled a prospect where Bittner and Schmoll are a little old (28) for Double-A. All 3 of their numbers are similar so I’m going to go with the player that impressed me the most, Yunior Novoa.

Congratulations to Yunior Novoa.
