William Bergolla
Born: 2/4/1983 – Height: 6’0” – Weight: 175 – B/T: Right
Bergolla signed with the Nationals in November 2007 after playing last season in the San Fran organization. Before that he had spent 7 seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He played 17 games for the Reds in 2005.
Prospect Rankings (that I could find)
John Sickles rated him as follows: 2005 – C+ and 2006 – C
2006 Baseball America, 8th Best Prospect in the Reds organization
A variety of injuries have hurt his prospect status over the last few years.
Fielding: Should play 2B but could also fill in at SS. Good glove, decent range, usually doesn’t make many errors.
Batting: A career .289 hitter in the minors, short compact swing, hits to all fields, has line drive and gap power but will not hit many homeruns, has some speed as he stole 52 bases in 2003 and 36 in 2004 (but has not stole more than 16 since).
