My 09 Roster Updated...Again

With 2 cuts in the books and some other news (thanks to my good friend Jane), I’ve taken time to update my 09 Senators roster.

I really can’t see a starting rotation with 3 Lefty pitchers. It is possible but not likely. Right now I’m leaning towards Justin Jones either coming out of the bullpen in Harrisburg or starting the season in AAA. Most likely Pena will be in the starting rotation.

Detwiler being optioned to Harrisburg was a surprise after his struggles last year. He has command issues and needs to be more consistent. He could end up getting hit hard in AA as the hitters are much more advanced. I’m not so sure this was a smart move by the Nationals. I would have liked to see him start at Potomac for a few months. I just got done with a Q&A session where I said the Nationals don’t rush players like other organizations, but I think they rushed this one.

Removed from the original list are: Justin Maxwell (to AAA), Dee Brown (released).

Added are: Ross Detwiler (optioned to AA on 3/10) and outfielder Francisco Plasencia (played at Potomac last season).
