My son and I made the trip to City Island this weekend to check out what demolition was done so far to Commerce Bank Park.
It felt bitter cold on the island with temps around 30 but with the wind whipping off the semi-frozen Susquehanna River it felt much colder. There were snow showers off and on all morning. My 4-year-old son was a real trooper as he made it through the visit only complaining when the wind really picked up. We managed to find shelter during those times which helped keep us a little warmer then taking the full brunt of the wind.
Needless to say the Senators offices were closed and my “access” was limited to the street which is behind the yellow caution tape.
Anyway, I tried to get the best photos possible with all things considered.
I started another Flicker page (Senators Renovations). It will contain all things relating to the Senators renovation. I posted photos of how the outfield looked prior to demolition (photos taken 4/1/2008) and the new stadium designs that were released last month. It will also include all the images taken during the renovation process. I’m also going to add it as a slide show on the right side toolbar.
Enjoy…
1.) View looking in from beyond the center field wall.
2.) View looking towards left field (general admission seating, ticket booths).
3.) View from the train tracks looking in towards home plate.
4.) View from the street looking from left to right field.
5.) Looking towards the pavilion. Trees cleared as well as the GA ticket booth.
6.) View of left and center fields.
7.) Looking toward the GA seating. Shows the Reserve/box seat booth was removed.
8.) The Commerce Bank Park sign.
9.) Scoreboard, which is scheduled to be upgraded during phase 1.
10.) Caution!!!
11.) Keep Out!!
