Matt Stairs, member of the 1991 Harrisburg Senators, was traded to Phillies last weekend.
40 year old Stairs has played 16 seasons in the major leagues for 11 different teams. He is a career 266 hitter, with 252 HR's.
While with the Senators in 1991, Stairs hit .333 with 30 doubles, 10 triples, and 13 homers and stole 23 bases. He led the league in batting average, hits, triples, slugging percentage, on his way to winning the Eastern League MVP. He also hit for the cycle on 8/23/91 vs. London. Stairs' was a versatile player as he once played every position in one game for the Senators (hope I'm remembering that correctly). One thing I'll never forget is the homerun he hit over the light tower in right field on City Island.
The 1991 Harrisburg Senators finished with a 87-53 record.

Wow! That's some amazing Stair's stuff you have there! I'm a big fan of Matt's myself. This year I was absolutely tickled that he came out of the dug out looking for me, the lady who waited for 3 days to get his autograph. He signed my 91 Senators card, my Jay's cap and a ball for me. I can't tell you how excited I was... me, speechless! I've talked to rock stars and never became speechless, but with Stairs... I just kept saying, Oh my God, it's Matt Stairs! LOL Crazy ol' lady that I am! I'm so glad he's going to be in the NB Hall of Fame this month! Go Stairsy! It's about time folks realize what a power-packed player this dynamo is!
what a huge homer last night!
i didnt even realize he was on the phillies post-season roster..
loved the way he refused to make a big deal out of it in the post-game interview...
Matt should move to Philly permanently now- he'll never have to pay for a meal again.
