This award came down to two players: Jordan Zimmerman and Roger Bernadina.
As outlined in Zimmerman’s Starting Pitcher of the Year post he is considered one of the top prospects in the Nationals organization, probably will be the top prospect in 2009. He was 7-3 with a 3.21 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 20 games for the Senators. Zimmermann also collected my 2008 Senators Rookie of the Year award.
Roger Bernadina was consistent while he was here hitting .323 while leading the team in triples (7) and stolen bases (26) in only 73 games played. Like I mentioned in his Offensive Player of the Year award, he did the things the team need of him to help them win. Not only did he do them on the offense but on defense as well. His defense was outstanding; he finished a close second to Mike Daniel for my Best Defensive Outfielder award.
Dispite Zimmermann’s accomplishments, I pick Roger Bernadina as the 2008 Harrisburg Senators Player or the Year.
Congratulations to Roger Bernadina
