Player of the Week: Jack Spradlin

Jack Spradlin
Jack Spradlin was named pitcher of the week for weekending June 28th. Spradlin appeared in 3 games last week for the Senators allowing no runs on 2 hits over 8 innings pitched. He also struck out 10.

Why has Spradlin not had a shot in the bigs?

My guess is before this year he only appeared in 5 games above the High-A level (appeared in 5 games for Harrisburg last season and posted a 7.11 ERA). He has pitched in 26 games this season and has done well. Right now it's probably a numbers game as there is a log jam of relief pitchers at AAA. Expect the Nats to make room for him in AAA after the all-star break.
