Last night was open practice for the Harrisburg Senators.
I managed to snap only a few photos as I some how injured my left hand before coming to the stadium, and it actually hurt to hold the camera.
EDIT: Photos in this post are now on Flickr.
Ofilio Castro took time to sign autographs for fans.
Leonard Davis played about 10 games for the Senators in 08. This year he will starting in the outfield. He could see time at 3rd base as he took some infield practice as well yesterday.
Newcomer, Michael Martinez, spent last season at Potomac. He will probably serve as a back up to Seth Bynum at 2nd and Ian Desmond at SS. It was bitterly cold, note the snow flakes flying in the background.
Ian Desmond returns for his 3rd stint with the Senators (06, 08 and 09). Watching batting practice, I noticed that Ian changed his stance (slightly open). I asked him about it and he said “I changed everything”. I asked if it helped with seeing pitches better, Ian confidently replied “yeah, definitely”. He then stepped into the batters box and hit two homeruns.
Other notes: Seth Bynum, Matt Whitney, Marvin Lowrance, and Ian were all hitting the ball well.
The ball was really jumping off Bill Rhinehart’s bat.

I like the idea that everyone seems to be hitting the ball well early in the season!
Of couse, for some of those left field shots, it really helped that the wind was blowing hard out that way.
But yeah, they were really hitting the ball well during BP.
