4/10/09: Senators Fall to Reading 2-1

Reading rallies late to top the Senators 2-1(Box/Recap).

Opening night the Senators pounded out 15 hits but they could only manage to get 5 tonight. The Senators lone run came off a solo shot by Edgardo Baez, who was 1/4 with a run scored. The other 4 hits were by Seth Bynum, Bill Rhinehart, Leonard Davis and a double by Matt Whitney.

Cory VanAllen left the game in the bottom of the 3rd inning after getting hit by a line drive(no word on his condition). Zack Segovia, former Reading Phillie turned Harrisburg Senator, enter the game for VanAllen. Segovia had a very strong outting allowing 4 hits and no runs scored in 4.1 IP and he struck out 5.

Trouble started in the bottom of the 8th when Jack Spardlin replaced Segovia. Spardlin gave up a lead off single to Kevin Mahar. A sac bunt moved the runner to second. He then walked Brad Harman. Back-to-back singles by Michael Taylor and Brian Stavisky plated Mahar and Harman. Basically that ended the game.

The Senators had a runner on first with one out in the top of the 9th but Edgardo Baez hit into a double play to end the game.
