Memorabilia Monday - World Series Edition

With all the hype surrounding the dramatic homerun by former Harrisburg Senator, Matt Stairs I completely missed the fact that another former Senator is still active in the MLB Playoffs. Tampa Bay Rays OF/DH Cliff Floyd was a member of the 1993 Harrisburg Senators (One of the Top 100 teams in MiLB History). Stairs is headed to the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was acquired in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays at the end of August (for pitching prospect Fabio Castro).

Floyd and the Rays followed with a win over the Red Sox’s yesterday. One of my fondest memories as a young Senators fan was being allowed to ‘play catch’ on the field during warm-up’s with Cliff Floyd, Rondell White and Chris Martin.

It’s good to see two former Senators square off in the World Series. Both players are towards the end of their careers but they are team leaders, and still contribute on the field as well. Best wishes to both of them.

Being a Harrisburg Senators' fan for more than 20 years, Cliff Floyd continues to be one of my favorite players.

I wish Cliff and Matt Stairs (another fan favorite) the very best for each of their teams. I just wish that they had more of an impact on their respective team.
