The Senators won the final game of the home stand vs. Erie, 2-1 (Box Score) in 10 innings.
Both clubs starting pitchers turned in strong performances. Harrisburg Bobby Brownlie, was the first Senator this season to pitch into the 7th inning. He went 7 innings, gave up 5 hits, and 1 run while striking out 2 but did not figure in the decision. The Erie’s starting pitcher, Jon Connolly, also turned in a good performance scattering 3 hits over 6 innings while allowing only 1 run.
The game was tied at 1 in the bottom of the 10th when Harrisburg’s Ian Desmond blooped a single to left field. He advanced to second when Mike Daniel was walked. Yepez attempted a sac but to advance the runners, but he reached base when Erie’s first baseman Maxwell Leon committed an error when attempting to field the ball. Justin Maxwell grounded to shortstop and Erie got the force out at home. Bases were still loaded (Daniel, Yepez, Maxwell) when Jorge Padilla hit a game-winning RBI single to right, scoring Daniel from 3rd.
My Players of the Game:
