Offense Continues to Shine

The Senators won 12-5 (Box Score) over Erie Monday night.

Erie came in to the series with the Senators with a 4-0 record and in first place in the Division. Erie jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning. Harrisburg bounced back in the 4th, scoring 3 runs to tie the game at 3. The Senators were lead in the 3rd inning by Yurendell de Caster. De Caster blasted a home run, his 3rd of the season, with two on to tie the game at 3. In the 5th, SS Ian Desmond connected with a pitch down and in for his first home run of the season.
All was quiet until the 7th when the Senators exploded for 8 runs. The Senators batted around this inning. The inning started with Desmond popping out to second. Bernadina, Rogers and Maxwell all followed with singles. Bases were loaded for Padilla and he was walked by Erie pitcher Matt Rusch. Luis Jimenez then singled scoring Rogers and Maxwell. De Caster doubled in the gap, Padilla and Jimenez scored. Luke Montz walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. Desmond comes to the plate for the second time this inning and doubles in the right field corner, de Caster and Montz scored. Bernadina then doubles, Desmond scores. Ed Rogers ended the monster inning with a strike out.

The Senators offense continues to flourish as the have now scored 23 runs in the last two games and have a 3-1 record. Senators fans should be excited by the play of this years team. After the horriable start to last season (actually the entire season last year)and the lack of a competitive team for several years; it seems as though we finally have a decent team to watch.
